In November 2024, the Muungano Agricultural Cooperative wrote a new chapter in history at the Best of Congo in Copenhagen. Our natural coffee lot achieved the highest SCA score ever recorded for a Congolese coffee: 85.63 points, translating to a sale price of $25.79 per kilogram.
This exceptional result is the fruit of three years of investment in post-harvest quality: controlled fermentation tanks, African drying tables, and intensive training for station managers. The Chebumba washing station, on the shores of Lake Kivu, played a central role in producing this award-winning lot.
"This record doesn't belong to a few — it belongs to the 4,300 producers who tended every cherry with passion." — Muungano Management
The Cooperative also received the 2024 Solidarity Finance Prize in recognition of its inclusive and equitable economic model. Muungano continues to demonstrate that Congolese coffee can compete with the world's finest origins.
